The markets remained relatively stable today, Thursday January 16, 2025, but ultimately ended in a slight drop, ending this week’s attempt at a rally. The S&P 500 dropped 0.21% to close at $5,937.34. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.16% to $43,153.13. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.89% for a closing price of $19,338.29.
Over 50% gains in one day
The biggest individual stock gain was from Flexible Solutions International Inc. (FSI), an environmental technology company, which jumped from $3.69 to an all time high of $5.64 per share, a massive 1-day gain of 53%. This brings their market cap up to $70.25M.
This jump comes after the Canadian company reported that they signed a contract to manufacture food grade products for a US based company, which they expect to bring in $15 million to $30 million in revenue per year.
E-Commerce FinTech Explosion
Katapult Holdings, Inc (KPLT) was close behind, with a gain of 46% today. This growth came after Katapult announced an 11.3% YOY gross originations growth for the fourth quarter, beating their previous expectations of 6-8%. Katapult currently offers lease purchase solutions to consumers.
Quantum Company Continues Growth from Yesterday
After the massive news and growth yesterday, most quantum companies’ stock prices stayed relatively stable today. Arqit Quantum Inc. (ARQQ) on the other hand, jumped up 38% yesterday, but were able to keep up the momentum, jumping another 37% to $28.28 today.
Other Notable Gainers
DatChat Inc. (DATS), an innovative social media company had a nice gain of 37% up to $5.85 today.
DouYu International Holdings Ltd. ADR (DOYU), a Chinese live-streaming platform had a gain of 28%, bringing their stock price up to $15.69. This comes after the co-CEO, Simin Ren, announced a $300 million special dividend.
ImmunityBio Inc. (IBRX) had a gain of 27%, bringing the stock price up to $3.04. This jump comes on the news released by this biotechnology company, announcing that they had made good progress on a bladder cancer treatment, and another announcing their plans with the FDA for 2025.

Rezolve AI Ltd. (RZLV) had a gain of 25% for a current price of $3.01.
BigBear.ai Inc. (BBAI) grew 22% to $4.15 after announcing their new CEO, Kevin McAleenan.
The Biggest Loser
The biggest stock loser today was Atara Biotherapeutics Inc. (ATRA), with a loss of 41% today, bringing the stock price all the way down to $7.83. This comes after the FDA did not approve their cancer therapy.
A notable decline
Nauticus Robotics Inc. (KITT) also had a bad day, with their stock dropping 28% to $2.22. Stockholders today voted to approve certain aspects of their financial restructuring and future plans.
